We support one of our customers, in the field of distribution, in their search for a Buyer. The position is located in Ville Saint-Laurent.
As a buyer you will be responsible for a purchasing portfolio of more than $30 million and will have to negotiate and plan purchases more precisely.
You will maintain close relationships with suppliers mainly from Asia.
Your responsibilities will be to:
Target and implement strategies to improve the quality of service and products and to reduce costs.
Ensure the negotiation of the best conditions (economic and operational) with the various suppliers.
Ensure compliance with order schedules and ensure delivery in accordance with established agreements.
Monitor supplier compliance with specifications with respect to quantities, quality, prices, manufacturing quotes and delivery terms. Take corrective action when necessary.
Initiate and execute decisions concerning the selection of suppliers (audit, evaluation and certification) both in Asia and in any other emerging country;
Recommend and promote initiatives that contribute to improving processes, product costs and customer service while reducing non-quality costs.
Monitor the price of raw materials and other costs and measure the impact on products.
Identify and investigate alternative sources of supply.
Work closely with Product Managers on new product development projects.
Stay abreast of changes and new practices specific to the sector of activity and stay up to date on political and economic developments with regard to the Asian market and other emerging countries. See to minimize the risks by spreading the purchases across the different countries.
Evaluate new vendors in the market and conduct analysis to understand trends and cost drivers.
Recommend strategies or solutions aimed at achieving the targeted objectives.
Provide evidence to make informed purchasing and sourcing decisions.
Hold a bachelor's degree in business administration, supply management or equivalent (other combinations of training and relevant experience may be considered.)
Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a buyer in all aspects of supply chain management preferably in Asia and/or other emerging countries.
Thorough knowledge of procurement policies and methods.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs (advanced Excel) and other analysis tools.
Bilingualism (French and English) both orally and in writing. Knowledge of a third language will be considered an asset.
Have experience in the distribution sector (an asset).
Have relevant experience in commodity management (an asset).
